Awesome as Cormac McCarthy is, I thought it would be best to lighten the mood on this Friday afternoon with some clips from UHF. My brothers and I used to watch this movie all the time when we were kids because it was one of the “free” rentals from the library. My mom loved renting us “free” movies because she didn’t have to pay the two bucks it cost to rent the regular movies, and the “free” movies were all pretty tame and child-friendly. We managed to watch The Princess Bride so much that they moved it from the “free” category back into the movies you had to pay to rent. I think we were the only people renting it, because it was always there when we came in.
I digress. The scenes below from UHF were the ones that used to make me crack up the most.
1) There’s something about people’s legs coming out of the ground in a graveyard that is absurdly funny to me. The salad bar is a nice touch as well.
THE MORTUARY SERVICE
2) Raul’s Wild Kingdom, was, I think, one of Mokie’s favorite bits. Listen for the “thump” at 1:59.
UHF - Raul’s Wild Kingdom
3) I don’t care what you think of Michael Richards. This shit is hi-larious.
STANLEY SPADOWSKIS CLUBHOUSE

Truly one of the great films ever. That Spatula City commercial cracks me up everytime. As does “Ghandi II” and “Conan The Librarian.”
Ahhh…good times.
Awesome movie!
The second clip was the best.
Sometimes I’ll just get phrases like “Spatula City!” and “Call me Mister Butterfingers” stuck in my head for days on end. It hurts.
I’m totally renting this again now, though. Damn.
…don’t change the channel…don’t touch that dial!
Though not on UHF….there is an episode of Alton Brown’s Good Eats airing tomorrow on the Food Network that is about your favorite concoction. Recipes include classic egg nog and egg nog ice cream

Darn… when you said “favorite concoction,” I thought you meant a twinkie-wiener sandwich!
I still can’t get mokies crazy laugh out of my head.
You forgot “Wheel… of… FISH!!!!”
I absolutely love UHF…I watched it many years ago, and still reference it sometimes. I’m always slightly bummed when no one else gets it.
