I wouldn’t normally do this, but I seriously need your help. The eggnog season is almost upon us, and I want you to direct me to any and all eggnog products you might happen upon. Eggnog, fakenog, eggnog candies, eggnog recipies, eggnog personal lubricants, whatever, I want to hear about it. If you were really nice you would mail it to me, but let’s be honest 1) you people are pretty much the dregs of society, and general all-around douchebags and 2) because of your aforementioned douchebaggery I would be extrememly hesitant to give you social maladroits my address. However, I do love me some nog. Just check out these previous nog posts. So if you have some sort of nog related item that you’d like to tip me off about, send me an email. But if your nogliscious item might be hard to find in my area, I would really appreciate it if you send it my way.
For those of you already giddy at the thought of me punishing my body with sometimes-tangentially-nog-related-items for the second year in a row, rest assured that I’ve already consumed a gallon of nog that I had purchased in January of this year and froze until my birthday this past September (a tradition I plan on continuing this January), and I’ve already made my first bloggable nog purchase and will be debuting it sometime in November or whenever I damn feel like it.

Oh it was good. So very good.
You might think this one’s no fun because you can’t make it yourself, but I wait all year for Starbucks’s Eggnog latte. Then I buy 1000 of them at once and fill my bathtub with them, then I soak in it until February. I love that stuff.
You’d think since you nearly crapped your pants at work, you would pursue a less explosive hobby. Will you at least promise to avoid the high fiber nog?

Make Jello vanilla pudding. But instead of putting milk in, put the nog. Bung the pudding mix into pre-cooked tart shells. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Eat. I hope you like them!
This may sound kind of gross, but last year my roommate introduced me to eggnog mixed with root beer (equal parts). It’s like a festive melted ice-cream float.
You never seem to mention making it yourself. Do you only do the shop bpught bases? I have made it a few times for parties as in Australia they don’t tend to sell too much pre made stuff. Of course this means any recipes I have are very alcoholic.
This is what I made for my last Christmas party. It was in July. (Yeah, well it’s winter in July here and we thought it was a good idea to try Christmas in the cold weather.) I just couldn’t believe that eggnog should have all this stuff in it. It probably shouldn’t (it never has in any of the other recipes I’ve used previously), but believe it or not this tastes good.* Invite some friends around before you make this one, it makes 5 litres.
Ingredients
700ml Brandy
400ml Rum
400ml Tawny Port
200ml Sweet Sherry
18 Eggs
3 cups Castor Sugar
1.5L Milk (reduced fat milk can be used)
750ml Thickened Cream (reduced fat cream can be used)
Nutmeg
Method
Mix ingredients in a large container.
Serve chilled. Dust the surface with lots of nutmeg.
Eggnog is best prepared the night before, though it needs to be stirred prior to serving to recombine ingredients.
For a thicker drink, increase the amount of cream while decreasing the amount of milk proportionally. If you use a lot of cream, you may need to top up the glass with milk.
