I see myself as floating somewhere in the murky area between Luddite and geek, so when I got back from my honeymoon to find a new iMac on my desk, I was both thrilled and terrified.
It hasn’t taken too long to get used to things, but there are little details that have been slowing me down.
For example, it took about 20 minutes for me to figure out how to import my Sage feeds.
And I’m still not exactly sure why the “End” key doesn’t take the cursor to the end of a line of text, or how to make it do that.
But, I’m slowly getting the hang of it.
How’s that for a thrilling return to blogging after two weeks of absence?

i am utterly thrilled.
welcome back (your dreams were your ticket out)
I do believe the Home and End keys impact the viewport instead of the text (i.e. the browser, not the location bar, or the word document, not the text in the word document). If memory serves, it’s Command-Left and Command-Right to respectively go home and end. So were you to press Shift-Command-Left or Shift-Command-Right, it would have the obvious effects.
It’s also worth noting that on the mac, you can’t select the location bar in firefox using Command-D (like Alt-D in windows). It’s Command-L.
Also, make sure to check out exposé … learn the hotkeys (I think F9, F10, and F11) - it’s the only way to navigate multiple windows on OS X! Oh, you can also turn on Hot Corners through the Screen Saver settings in System Preferences. You might like them, too.
I don’t think you need the End key. Just pluck it off the keyboard.
That’s a bit anticlimactic as a return from what was hopefully an incredible trip, about which we can’t wait to hear stories.
And I don’t think I will ever drink the Mac Kool-Aid. I don’t want to spend as much time as it will take to become familiar with a totally different machine, and I’m not convined that they’re THAT much better than PCs.
Oh yeah: Welcome back!!!
Welcome back!
Now tell me, do you remember anything about the special day except for the end when you are finally alone with your new spouse at the end of a VERY LONG DAY and suddenly…you look at each other and say, “We’re married!”
a Mac? Pffffffft. Don’t they have the same guts as a PC now?
Well, since you are using a Mac, enjoy the lack of a two-button mouse.
Oh, Jason J. Thomas, they have two-button mice now. Silly.
welcome back, ACW. I think we deserve newlywed stories.
Welcome back!
Congrats on the Mac. Everyone should have one.
Please - I’ve been desperate for some other blogger to make necrophilia jokes.
Welcome back!
This is what I get? I was hoping for Scotland photos.

How’s that for a thrilling return to blogging after two weeks of absence? woo. friggin. hoo.

Welcome back. Yay for the mac. (POET, THAT’S RIGHT!)
whatevs…. I’m excited for your new mac. yay! mac.
Scotland photos wouldn’t be a bad idea, either, though.
welcome home.
Welcome back, ACW! Hope your overseas jaunt was oh so lovely!
Hell yes! ACW is back! Congrats and all that.
I have a Mac at home and a Dell something or other at work. There are definite pros (and cons) to both. Does this make me bisexual?
You’re back! Yahoo! Can’t wait to hear about the trip.
How did the cat fare while you were away?
hold down the key with the apple on it and then hit the arrow. it will take you to the end. but of course you have probably figured that out by now. welcome to the dark side :>
