I wasn’t needing those dangly bits anyway

Wednesday night ACWF had gone to her aunt’s house to help prepare for Thanksgiving dinner the next day. Becuase the drive is about 2 hours, and becuase we also have to have dinner with my family, this was our arangement. She’d go to be with her family for a while, I’d stay home, we’d see my family this year, and her family next year.

So waht did I do with my time away from the old ball and chain? Well of course I did what any red blooded American male would have done. I got loaded on cheap beer and went to the strip club. I went through dollar bills faster than dollar bills go through a dollar bill machine. Whatever, I don’t know what it means either, becuase what I actually did was stay home and watch movies.

Porno! Yeah, it was nothing but boobs and butts and weiners as far as the eye could see.

Oh, who am I kidding. I’m about to be perfectly honest, and I’m expecting to be made fun of for it, and I’m prepared for that.

I stayed who and watched tear-jerker dramas/romantic movies. I started with Spanglish, moved on to Love Actually (both of which you should go see right freaking now if you haven’t already, or I swear to all that is pasta that I will punch you) and then I watched Amelie, which is touching, but not exactly a romance, but it kind of is romantic. While I’m fitting myself for a skirt I may as well admit that I cry every time I see Life Is Beautiful (not to mention Schindler’s List, but for similar but separate reasons) as well as The Royal Tenebaums.

Now I’m going to go eat chips and dip, have a beer, and try not to weep at commercials.

    Jeez. You big baby.

(I say that, that hey, I cry in virtually every movie I go to so - you know.)

I’ve only seen two of the movies that you mentioned (Love, Actually and Amelie) and I thought they were OK. Have you seen any movies at the theater lately? I recently saw Walk the Line and Pride & Prejudice. I liked P&P a lot; WtL only a little.

Henh? I don’t have any interest in anything you listed. Then again, I’m the woman who once got her boyfriend mad because she wanted to go see Timecop instead of the chick flick he picked. Yes, he was actually mad because I refused to sit and watch it. Seems he’d steeled himself for nothing, because he had no idea that I’d rather crawl on my nethergoodies than watch a chick flick. Apparently he resented getting all full of “I’m a nice guy so I let her watch this sap-assed movie” and not being able to whip it out.

I can’t watch those girly movies more than once in a while. I’d sure rather watch some action flick with blood splattering everywhere, instead of meanngful looks and feelings. There wasn’t a single chick-flick on your list that I’d want to spend time with.

Nothing wrong with chick flicks. Sounds like you had a good time to me.

Have you ever tried to explain to someone what Amelie is about? I’ve yet to come up with anything, other than “it’s foreign”.

    Spanglish?

I am a total sterotypical girl and love all these movies. Haven’t watched Spanglish yet though - time to put it on my list!

I’ve seen some of those .. ok well after the first two, I haven’t seen any of them :P

    Love, Actually = awesome movie!

Honesty in regard to lack of strip bars and pornos was much appreciated since technically no one would have known… or maybe we would have, but we wouldn’t have told you… wait. yeah we would have. so you pretty much had no choice, huh? Thanks for the honesty that you had no choice in using. ^_^

Sorry, but Spanglish was unorgininal and uninspiring. Love Actually was actually cute. I’ve seen Life is Beautiful, but only once. I can’t really sit through Holocaust movies. Amelie I frickin loved. If you like that, then you should see A Very Long Engagement. It has the same actress and it is a fantastic movie. And if you like French movies you should see my favorite movie of all time, Queen Margot. That is the only movie on earth that can bring me close to tears.

While you’re at it, Return to Me is also a really funny weepy movie worth watching.

    Except the really depressing beginning.

I haven’t heard great things about Spanglish before so I’m a suspicious (but I haven’t seen it), but I did see LOVE ACTUALLY and I loved that movie. (It’s hilarious when that little girl is singing and she says “all i want for Christmas is you” and the boy is smiling and then she points at everyone else and says “and you and you and you”.) I’ve actually had that song stuck in my head the last few days.

Even if you hadn’t clarified about the porn/strippers, I don’t think I would have believed you…

I watched Unleashed with Jet Li (written by Luc Besson!) …. strangely, it reminded me quite a bit of Amelie - except for the KICK ASS FIGHT SCENES. Amelie didn’t have those.

ps I’d call you girl, acw, if it didn’t seem kind of an insult to….me and ….. the female race……

A freaky movie with that Audrey Tatou (Amelie) is He Loves Me, He Loves Me not (en francais - A la folie, pas du tout). It’s a thriller and I actually didn’t guess how it was gonna go.

YAY foreign films! I love Amelie. It’s one of my favorites ;)
