Blog vs. Blog part 2, “This time I won’t get herpes”

So, Kmart says in this post that I threw him the table scraps of our blogging fodder conversation, when in fact I gave him the funnier comment. I called dibs on the blogs=crack comment and let him have whatever was left. I can’t remember what it was, not because it wasn’t funny, oh no, it was hysterical, but because I put it out of my head so I wouldn’t use it accidentally. Clearly Kmart’s comment was funnier, because, as you can see, this post is just side splitting. Hee-fuckin-larious.

God damnit.

Competetive blogging

Something I hadn’t considered before Kmart got a blog was that we would be drawing from the same sources for material- each other. So last night we had to call dibs over who got to publish which part of our 15 second conversation. I called dibs on saying that blogging was the crack of the internet. So hopefully his blog is funny, and he doesn’t steal too much of my material.

Kmart has a blog

No, not the cheap ass store. My roommate! Welcome to less work, less productivity, and trying to find interesting things to say about the stupid/funny things I say and do.

“Uncle” Doug

The brief time I knew him was extremely rewarding. He always welcomed me with a beer, and as ACWGF said, “he always had that shit-eating grin on his face” like we had just caught him doing something that he wasn’t supposed to be doing.

ACWGF also said that he liked to give her boyfriends a hard time. If he didn’t, that meant that he didn’t like them. I never really felt like he was giving me a hard time, but I always felt like he liked me. Now, I realize he was just saving it up.

His funeral was this morning, and today is my birthday. He finally succeeded in giving me a hard time. I only knew him a short time, but I know I’ll miss him dearly.

US Army- Working hard to keep us safe (most of them anyway)

The remaining few are working hard to spam Towson University email accounts to recruit students to join the military. Check the back and forth between the Staff sergeant and my roommate below. I’ve reordered the emails for easy reading.

Kevin,Thanks for taking the time to respond to my email. Spam is over 20 emails at once, I send out 19 at a time. Sorry for the inconvience you may not need $66,000 plus but maybe one of your friends or class mates do. Do you think sending emails hurts you or your friends. I understand that not everyone agree’s with the Army Reserve and the defense and freedom we give you but some do. To give you a heads up if I fail to do my job you and individuals close to you may end up being drafted. I am here to prevent that, wouldn’t you agree that by taking the time to tell others about how they can get $66,000 for college is a benefit to them and prevents you from being drafted. Once everyone ran to other country now the United States has the power to go there and drag them out. Clinton put the draft act in to power during his administration basically saying you go to Canada someone will come and get you. Again sorry to inconvience you and I hope I have given you the benefit even though you may not be interested. Have a great weekend and good luck at Towson Univerity.
Sincerly, David J. Woodruff

Outside of the horrible grammar and spelling (and before you start with the “Don’t be the English/grammar police” crap, keep in mind that when I do math I don’t get to throw numbers around willy-nilly and expect everything to come out fine. There are rules people. Rules!) which should have been checked considering he is sending his emails to students at an institution of higher education, Kmart took much umbrage with the email exchange. As did I. Can this guy honestly make the claim of “a few weekends a year” when reserves are continually in danger of being shipped out? Not to mention that even though this “mission” is “accomplished” people continue to die at a nauseatingly steady rate. Is this honestly the best time to try to recruit? Also, to make similar point to Moore’s in Fahrenheit 9/11, the thing that cheesed off Kmart and I the most is that this email is targeting all the people who aren’t as well off as the rest of us. Poor kids who want to go to college take the risk, the gamble, that they won’t have to go to war. The odds are clearly against them right now. Staff sergeant, is this really the best way to get bodies right now?

I’ve added to the culture of political divisiveness

This morning on the way into work I let a guy over simply because he had John Kerry bumperstickers on his car. I guess that’s not really contributing to divisiveness, but some things to consider are a) the traffic was bumper to bumper, which is unusual b) it’s Monday, and c) if he had a W sticker there is no way I would have let him in.

So, take from that what you will. If you haven’t seen it yet:

You know what-

Fuck Republicans, fuck the current administration, and fuck all the fucked up smoke and mirrors bullshit that we’ve been put through because of the cooperation of the aforementioned fucks and the media fuckups. Fuck service in ‘Nam. Bush fucked up catching Osama, fucked up and weakened national security, fucked our civil liberties, fucked up pre and post Iraq (whatever the fuck that means), fucked up the economy, fucked up the environment, fucked up education, fucked up science, is fucking the wall between church and state into the ground, fucked up women’s rights around the world, fucked up healthcare, and fucked our relationships with most people on this planet. Not to mention that he’s a giant fucking douchebag in general, and I hear he smells like cat piss.

Next time somebody brings up fucking swift vets for truth, or fucking TANG, or fucking whatever, just ask about that long fucking laundry list of fuckups, and watch them twist in the wind to explain why adding hundreds of thousands of jobs less than you predicted to the workforce is actually a good fucking thing. Goddamned motherfucking idiots!

Fuck count: 29
Douchebag count: 2
Outrage Fatigue: Averted
Time until Ashcroft knocks on the do…

Fellow patriots, I have had a change of heart. Criticizing the president is un-American. A vote for John Kerry is a vote for terrorists. France is our enemy. This statement has NOT been brought to you by a Homeland Security agent.

Kickball

1 UPDATE BELOW

I’ve been signed up for a kickball leauge in Baltimore. The games start tonight at 6:30 pm. We play every Thursday (weather permitting) in the fields on the east-ish side of Patterson Park, Southwest of the corner of Linwood and Pratt, just beyond the tennis courts here. (Look for the giant white dome) Some people say kickball is a game for children. I say, “When did the child in you die?” Or, more likely, “Why did you slowly strangle the child in you before selling him into slavery just so you could look at internet porn?”

UPDATE: We won our game 10-2 against the Texas Long&Horny’s. That makes the Recess Bullies 1 and 0 for the season so far. I played first base, and got 7 outs. 7! Finally a sport that meets my mediocre athletic ability.

Beastie Boys Tickets

I have 2 sets of tickets to the 10/8 Beastie Boys show. The seats are pretty nice, and should be great with regard to sound. The seats are section 115 row L seats 3 and 4, and Section 103 row L seats 6 and 7. I’m asking $106 for each pair, which is 50 cents less than what Ticketmaster would have charged you. If you want them, let me know in comments. Also, feel free to let any friends know if they are looking for tickets. I’m putting any unsold tickets on ebay on 9/20. Here’s a seating chart.

Lost phone

1 UPDATE BELOW

I lost my phone when I went to see Cake over the weekend. It was an awesome show, and, interestingly, one of the songs off their new album is called “No Phone.” I tried to allign myslef with the message of the song, which was, for those of you who listen to Rush Limbaugh, that not having your phone was a relief, a good thing. But I couldn’t really, and I tried to say that it wasn’t a big loss, but it was.

This was especially irritating because I had held out for so long in getting a cell phone, and now I felt I had become a slave to one. Though, now taking a a more withdrawn approach to everything, it’s not the connectivity I miss, it’s the connectivity when it matters. (And the clock. I really hate watches, but I love knowing what time it is. The cell phone served me well in temporal regard.) Kmart’s window in his car got busted over the weekend and I couldn’t really keep in touch with him without using ACWGF’s phone. Luckily, ACWGF was with me, but had she not been, it would have been a real pain in the ass for Kmart to get the stuff to temporarily fix his window.

So the one time it really seems like it pays to have my phone, it’s gone. Boo.

So, has anyone else experienced the conflict of connectivity? What are you’re stories about wanting to be connected/disconnected and having the opposite occur?

UPDATE: I guess I should change the title of this post to “Found Phone.” And, I must admit, I’m psyched that it was found. I was comfortable with my no-frills, no-bells-and/or-whistles phone and I didn’t want to get a new one. Plus, there are numbers on there that would cause me quite an ass-bruising to ask for again. As a side note, I wanted to have faith in humanity, especially in likeable Cake fans, and as a cynic, I’d convinced myself that my phone was gone. But now I like people a little bit more (for at least the next few minutes) and I can truly respect the anonymous Cake fan/Merriweather employee for not taking my phone and selling it to somebody for 10 bucks. I wish I knew who they were so I could give them a reward. Right now, I’m totally gruntled and going to eat lunch. I’d still love to hear your stories though.
